Workshop 1: Bringing First Time Guests Back for More

Most churches are ineffective at drawing first time visitors, and when they do draw first timers, they are ineffective at giving them a first time experience that compels them to return. This workshop session examines the first time experience from the perspective of the guests, and equips church leaders with what’s needed to provide a dynamic welcome.

Who Should Attend?

Any church leaders who are responsible for, or concerned about, reaching people in the community and offering them relational evangelism and a church home can benefit from this workshop.

Learning Objectives:

1. Leaders will learn to evaluate their preparedness to receive first time guests properly.

2. Leaders will learn to anticipate the needs of first time guests.

3. Leaders will learn to create a positive and memorable experience for first time quests.

Topics Include:

The Ministry Capacity Matrix

Workshop 2: Aligning Old Timers & Newcomers with Outreach Vision

The established small church, often in decline, tends to be set in its ways with relational circles well established. Leadership is deeply seated with a view towards doing what has always been done in the way that it’s always been done. This workshop session equips leaders of such a church with the perspectives and action steps needed to support renewed outreach efforts with effective assimilation.

Who Should Attend?

Church leaders who are committed to renewed outreach efforts in their churches can benefit from this workshop.

Learning Objectives:

1. Leaders will learn what would interest newcomers in a small, declining church.

2. Leaders will learn how assimilation works from the newcomers’ point of view.

3. Leaders will learn that, to be effective at outreach, the burden of assimilation will be on the iiiiiestablished congregation, not on the newcomer.

Topics Include:

Lifecycle
Identification: The I.D. of a Church
Contingency with a Twist
The Systems Issue
The Personnel Issue
